Wu’s research involves conversations about finding safe spaces and the idea of security and insecurities. Her work is driven by a deep curiosity and interest in architecture from her upbringing in Taiwan. Windows or openings are repetitive subjects in her work. Wu encourages her audience to experience her sculpture and installations not only visually but also with physical touch: to feel the smoothness of clay, the softness of fabric, and the fragilities of paper. Her safe spaces are non-confrontational and temporary; they exist in private and public; they are a state of mind and an experience more than just a secure environment.

Aside from her fine art practice, Wu is a curatorial assistant, a curator, a creative director, a set designer, and a mural painter. She specializes in event planning, and communication between artists, and is passionate about supporting creative individuals to bring their imagination into reality.
Kuan-Ya Wu (b. 2000, Taipei, Taiwan) is an installation artist based in New York, NY. She graduated from ArtCenter College of Design (ACCD) with a BFA in Fine Art in 2023 and currently pursuing a MA in History of Art and Archaeology at Institution of Fine Arts at New York University.
